Topboy Promotions has on Tuesday 14th September officially unveiled a world class modern Boxing ring at a function that held at the Hockey Grounds in Lugogo.
The promotion company’s director Philip Munaabi confirmed that they have signed a memorandum of understanding with the Uganda Boxing Federation to help increase boxers’ exposure to a modern facility.
“This is the first of its kind in the country. We all know that the ring is the field of Boxing and it would be worthless to organise fights without a ring.
“We have signed a memorandum of understanding with the Boxing Federation to increase boxers’ exposure to world standard facilities thus enhancing their level of performance.”
Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi thanked Topboy Promotions for helping them solve the Boxing ring challenge and called on National Council of Sports to purchase more rings to the fraternity
“We have been facing a Boxing ring challenge but Topboy has helped us solve such an issue with a modern facility and this will take us a step forward.”
“We have been using the National council of Sports ring for over 40 years and it is an old version ring.” The new one is the one used at international events and we called upon government and National council of Sports to think about purchasing more Boxing ring for the good of the game.”
The newly imported world class and modern Boxing ring has a standard side of 18 by 18 yet the old one is 20 by 22.
According to Topboy Promotions director Munaabi it cost them Shs120M with taxes inclusive to import the facility.
