Cameroon 2-0 Gambia

Karl Toko Ekambi scored a second half brace as Cameroon edged a resilient Gambia side in the first quarter final of the AFCON in Douala.

The hosts dominated proceedings from the onset while Gambia sat back to defend.

Gambia who are debutants at the tournament, missed their star man Ablie Jarrow due to injury and his place in the starting line up was taken by Muhammed Badamosi.

The highlight of the first half was when the Gambian goalkeeper Baboucarr made a brilliant save to deny Cameroonian skipper Vincent Aboubakar in 37th minute.

Finally, the deadlock was broken by Toko Ekambi who headed home a well delivered cross from roving right back Fai Collins in the 50th minute.

Seven minutes later, Toko Ekambi made it 2-0 after lashing on a well laid ball from Martin Hongla.

The brace took Toko Ekambi’s tally to five goals in this campaign. Only his compatriot Aboubakar with six, has scored more than him.

Both Toko Ekambi and Aboubakar have scored all the 11 goals Cameroon has managed in the tournament so far.

Cameroon will face either Morocco or Egypt on Thursday.
