Rashid Toha scored the winner as Onduparaka registered a 2-1 victory of Maroons FC at the Greenlight stadium in Arua.

Ceaser Okhuti had put the caterpillars in an early lead but Bronson Nsubuga levelled the scoreline in the second half before Toha settled the tie.

The Prison Warders who came into this encounter in search for season double over Onduparaka, found themselves trailing in the first minute of the game after Okhuti finished off a Viane Sekajugo ball.

Both goalkeepers Nicholas Sebwato and Emmanuel Akol were forced into a couple of decent saves in the subsequent proceedings.

Substitute Bronson Nsubuga finally beat Sebwato with a well taken free kick in the 70th minute.

Maroons seemed destined for at least a point from Arua but Toha had different ideas. The lanky defender rose highest to head home his 6th goal of the season from a Gadaffi Gadinho delivery with 8 minutes left on the clock.

Onduparaka head coach Sadiq Sempigi attributed Maroons’ goal to poor defending but commended his charges for reacting accordingly.

” We were made to pay for our poor wall formation hence the Maroons free kick goal but we swiftly reacted to the game situation and found the winning goal. ”

Onduparaka move to the 5th place with 35 points and will play against Nyamityobora at Kakyeka in their next game on Tuesday 5th March.

Maroons stay 6 points above the relegation zone as they head into their next game against Bright Stars at Luzira.
