Three Bombers grab gold while two settle for silver

After the Lugogo trials that saw 8 boxers qualifying to represent the boxing national team Bombers in Tanzania, the team was sent off to carry the national flag.

Playing on a knockout basis to qualify for next round, Uganda managed to send 5 boxers to the final in which 3 won gold medals and the 2 settled for silvers.

Light Flyweight Kizza Joshua Lost to Abdalah M. Abdalah on points while flyweight Miiro Juma WonJohn Cristian on points 3-0.

Bantamweight Nassir Bashir qualified over Elias Simon by walk over while lightewight Nyanzi Joshua Lost to Hassan Mrutu in the 1st round.

Middleweight Semuju David defeated Godfrey Peter on points 3-0 while light Walterweight Muwonge Latibu Lost to Abdalah Ally in the 1st round.

At the semi finals the 91kg Geko Solomon defeated Hamad Khalifan in heavyweight division.

After qualifying for the quarter and semi finals in which Miiro Juma defeated Kabwena Shaban by K.O in round one, Simbwa Regan stopped Kinyongiri Twalib, Nasir Bashir m lost to Salum Muhamed Sadir Musa ( Captain) won twice to reach today’s final beating Kevin Kimpinge in quarters and Adam Hassan the semis both on 3-0 and Semuju David who defeated Gasper Antagus, both Uganda and Tanzania had 5 boxers a piece in the finals.

It was Simbwa Regan, Geko Solomon and Shadir Musa who bagged gold while Ssemuju David and Miiro Juma settled for Silver each.
