The Uganda Sand Cranes bow out with spirited fight against Mozambique

Mozambique beat the Uganda Sand Cranes 6-3 in the second semifinal of the 2021 AFCON beach soccer championship played on Friday at Saly Beach soccer stadium.

Baker Lukooya, Emmanuel Alex Wasswa and Paul Lule scored the Sand Cranes three goals as their dream of advancing to the FIFA World Cup in Russia was ended.

Rachid Chefo Smith netted five goals with Nelson Manuel scoring the other as Mozambique sailed past Uganda.

Mozambique will face hosts and reigning champions Senegal in the final on Saturday, 29th May. Both sides in the final will represent Africa in the Beach soccer FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Uganda who are in their first ever beach soccer continental showpiece will now lock horns with Morocco in the third place play off.

Morocco suffered a 3-2 defeat to Senegal in the first semifinal on Friday.
