The stage is set for the National Boxing team trials ahead of the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth games.

Since January, 2020 during the Olympic qualification phase, the Uganda Boxing Federation has not held any sporting event due to the outbreak of the horrendous Covid-19 in the country.

Starting from Saturday 25th September to Tuesday 5th October, over 532 boxers (498 men) and (34 women) will be in the ring to fight for the 14 Boxing Commonwealth slots (8men) and (6 women).

During the 2018 Commonwealth games in Gold coast, Uganda was represented by David Ssemujju Kavuma, Juma Miiro, Regan Ssimbwa and Shadir Musa.

Miiro came out on top winning Uganda a bronze medal in the Flyweight category.

The Birmingham games are slated for 28th July to 8th August in England.
