Africa Men’s 7s defending champions Uganda has been sent off at the National Council for sports offices to Tunisia where they will be attempting to defend the championship they won two years ago.
Uganda will face off against Ghana and Senegal in pool B
The squad will be led by captain Michael Wokorach, Philip Wokorach, Solomon
Okia, Pius Ogena, Byron Oketayot, Timothy Kisiga Justin Kimono, Desire Ayera, Aaron Ofoyrwoth, Pius Ogena, Adrian Kasito, James Odongo, Issac Massa, Ian Munyani as Harunah Muhammad.
The team was flagged off by the National Council of sports Gen. Secretary Patrick Ogwel and Board member Hajj Zubair Galiwango on behalf of government.
Hajji Zubair Galiwango asked the players to refrain from acts of varnishing from the team which would tarnish Uganda’s image
“Go and represent us well, raise our flag high and make the nation proud but avoid the acts of varnishing from the camp for it will further tarnish our image”
Galiwango further announced that government has improved the sports budget from 4.4 bn shillings to 17.4 bn shillings.
“I am happy to announce that the government’s sports budget has been increased from shs 4.4bn to 17.4bn shs and the increasing success stories in sports excellence by our associations will justify the urge for more funding”.
The tournament will kick off on Saturday 13th to Sunday 14th October 2018 in the city of Monastir.
