The FUFA-Drum tournament will be played in Uganda for the first time in the history of Ugandan football.

The tournament was introduced following a resolution by the FUFA 93rd Ordinary General Assembly following a directive of the 13th FUFA Executive committee to formulate a competition.
The tournament will be run and managed by the FUFA official rules and regulations and shall be played by the 16 provinces as named by FUFA.

The tournament will be run on a slogan “Our pride is the strength of our diversity”

” The objective definitely is searching talents across the country. The league alone can’t be the best way of tapping more talent. The club’s will also have a better hunting ground for players for their teams”. Said FUFA president Engineer Moses Magogo as quoted by the FUFA official website.

The 16 provinces are ;
Buganda, Busoga, Bugish, Karamoja, Ankole, Bunyoro, Kampala, WestNile, Lango,Tooro, Bukedi, Teso, Kigezi, Rwenzori, Acholi and Sebei.

The 16 provinces are grouped into 4 groups of 4 teams each and games will be played on a home and away basis.The top 2 teams in each group will play the quarter finals which will also be played on home and away. The 4 teams that qualify for the semi final will still play on a home and away basis before the final which shall be a single match is played on a predetermined ground.

The tournament is open to all Ugandan players with an ancestry root from a particular province.

However, it is clearly stipulated that once a player represents a province he can not represent any other province unless in special circumstances as maybe decided by the FUFA Executive committee.

The Drum is set to kick-start today Saturday 24th, Feb,2018 with Busoga hosting Bugisu in the opening match.
