After a 10 days’ break, the National Basketball League returns this friday. The break could have been longer but FUBA saw it necessary to resume the league so soon in order to avoid fixture congestion with Zone V club championships coming up in October that will haver City Oilers and Betway Power for men participate as well as KCCA Leopards and UCU Lady Canons for women.
The National team too will have to take part in the Afrobaskest Championships in Senegal and Tunisia in September.
The fixtures for the second round of the NBL have been released already with Betway Power taking on Pemba Warriors on Friday 18th-August 2017 at YMCA.
Apparently Power and Warriors are the most supported sides in the country though Oilers is not far since their dominance winning league after league. These two teams also had a great first round where Warriors lost only one game in 10 and Power lost 2 in 11 including the game they lost to Warriors, 72-62, hence, Power will be seeking its vegence.
“We had a good first round but
we suffered two defeats that were very much avoidable. When the second round starts we will be trying to improve by avoiding similar scenarios. We want to avoid further losses,”
Arnold Mchuda Lando, Power’s coach said as soon as the first fixtures came out.
In the women’s category, table leaders and undefeated Kcca Leopards will take on an on form JKL Dolphins who are 2nd on the table at 6pm YMCA courty.
On the same date, 17th of August, division 1 and D league play offs will kick off as well as the East African Secondary Schools games due to take place in Gulu.
