Teenager Katumba Edgar chasing Uganda Cranes dream

The young midfielder nicknamed Paul Pogba featured for five time Masaza Cup Champions Gomba at this year's tourney.

Born 17 years ago, Katumba Edgar William a son to the late Sekiziyivu James and Zawedde Diana has a dream of featuring for the Uganda Cranes and in the topflight division football.

The young midfielder nicknamed Paul Pogba featured for five time Masaza Cup Champions Gomba during this year’s tourney.

“My dream is to play football at the topflight level as well as featuring for the national team.” I believe I can achieve this through focus, hard work and determination.”

Of course it’s always not easy but once you believe in yourself and work hard, it becomes easier to reach your goal.”

Every player wants to play for his country and am also aiming at achieving it.”

In 2019, Katumba caught the eye of Excellence Sports company when he emerged as the best player out of 300 who took part in a camp that was organized by the company in partnership with Italian side Sampdoria FC.

Katumba impressed at the 2021 Masaza Cup despite Gomba’s elimination at the group stage. He featured in all the games they played in the group that had Kabula, Buluuli, Kyadondo and Ssingo.

He currently plays for Buloba based side Kickoff Sports Academy which is under the stewardship of coaches Nsereko Wilberforce, Male Dan and Muya Moses Polly.
