An early relegation battle is not something anyone predicted for Bright Stars this term but after 11 games have been played in the Uganda Premier league, the unthinkable may happen if things do not change.
Soltilo Bright Stars, one of the most impressive teams of last term have only managed one win from their 10 matches played so far.
This evening, they have recorded their 5th draw and have lost 4 times ready. The only team they were better than this term is Tooro United who have conceded the most but Bright stars only beat them 1-0 at home.
This evening, they took on a BUL team beaming with confidence courtesy of their table position.
Soltilo Bright Stars were the better team on the evening but profligacy and bad luck cost them two valuable points as stressed by interim head coach Simon Mugerwa.
“I think these are two lost points rather than a point earned. We have created more than four goalscoring opportunities but we failed to convert any. We hope to work on that and improve ourselves before it is late.
He said during the post match interview.
Captain Nelson Ssenkatuka, Kasinde and debutant Ivan Irinimbabazi all got close to scoring but that’s the nest we can report.
As Mugerwa decried bad lack and the wasted opportunities, BUL Fc could have won the game in the 38 minute of the first period.
Attacker Musa Wandyaka was presented with a penalty kick when there was a handball in the forbidden area but goalkeeper Simon Tamale saved the ball.
Bright Stars will hope to recover when they host title challengers Vipers SC on the 21st of December at Kavumba whereas BUL will visit UPDF at Bombo on the 22nd.
Today’s point consolidated BUL in the second place on the log with 21 points. Vipers are 3rd with 20 and are pending to host Tooro United at Kitende tomorrow.
