Uganda Cranes central midfielder Taddeo Lwanga is officially a Tanzania League champion with Simba Sports Club.

Simba clinched the Tanzania Vodacom Premier League after beating Coastal Union 2-0 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday evening.

Strikers John Bocco and Chrispin Mugalu scored the two first half goals that guided Simba to a 24th win of the season.

Unlike before, Taddeo Lwanga was an unused substitute as coach Didier Gomes made five changes from the line up that started in the previous game against KMC on Wednesday.

Lwanga has played an integral role in Simba’s illustrious season that has also seen the Tanzanian champions reach the knock out stages of the CAF Champions League.

The victory took Simba to 79 points, nine better than their eternal rivals Young Africans who occupy the second place with two rounds to play.

The title is Simba’s fourth in a row having previously emerged as winners in the 2017/18, 2018/19 and last season.

The Wekundu wa Msimbazi are now level on 22 titles with Young Africans and remain the most successful clubs in Tanzania.

The two sides will have to face off in the Azam Sports Federation Cup final slated for July 25th at the Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma region.

The two joint record champions will represent Tanzania in the CAF Champions League while Azam and Biashara Mara United will be featuring in the CAF Confederation Cup.
