TABLE TENNIS : Eight young Ugandans to feature at East African Championship

Uganda Table Tennis Association has finalised a list of eight young tennis elites who will represent the country in the East African Region Hopes and Cadets Championships in this year’s edition to be held in Ethiopia.

Robert Ssekitooleko, The UTTA board member in charge of schools is expected to lead the Ugandan delegation to Ethiopia is confident of positive returns.

” I am confident we have a good team that competed in a number of trials before they reached this stage. Iam quite sure they will stage a good competition and eventually win.” He says.

“Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) engaged the players in a fair Round Robin trial to pick the best players per category to represent Uganda in Ethiopia.” He adds

The Regional (Eastern Africa) is a 14 Nation Qualifying tournament for International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) for Hopes and Juniors.

Incase Uganda wins, they will qualify to represent Africa at World ITTF Hopes and Junior championships.

The list comprises of four representatives for each age group with two boys and two girls.

The Hopes group caters for minors between the age of eight years and 12 years while the Cadet group is the age between 13 years and 15 years.

Hopes and Cadets week and Challenge 2020 will take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia between 11th -18th of this month.
