The Swift Sports football team opened the new year campaign with a 2-2 draw with Bugongi Legends in a game played at Old Kampala SS pitch on Sunday.

The decently attended game was Swift Sports’ official 11th game since January 2018.

Yiga Ronald and Deman Denol scored for Swift Sports in either halves while Aziz Farouk and Edson Akandeba did the same for the Bugongi Legends.

In fact Yiga cancelled out Aziz Farouk’s third minute goal with an exquisite strike from about 20 yards to ensure a 1-1 halftime draw.

The opening half was entirely an attack against defense affair with Swift Sports dominating with relentless attacks. It would have been a different story but Matovu Tom fluffed one of the many glorious chances from 12 yards when he blasted a penalty over the bar.

Denol made it 2-1 moments into the second stanza but Edson Akandeba levelled matters in the closing stages with a free kick from the left side of attack.

Matovu Tom almost made amends for his early miss with a free kick but his curved effort was parried away for a fruitless corner kick.

For a record, Bugongi Legends is a team comprised of players from Western Uganda who are based in Kampala.

Swift Sports has managed to win six of the 11 games played, drawing thrice and losing on two occasions.
