Lidkopings FK 2-1 Mallbackens IF

Ritah Kivumbi scored the lone goal as her Mallbackens IF side lost 2-1 to Lidkopings FK in the third round of the Swedish Women Cup on Wednesday night.

Kivumbi opened the day with a goal in the 16th minute but Taylor Townsend and Ida Petterson scored two goals to ensure victory for the home side.

The Ugandan forward was later substituted off for Nigerian striker Michael Sarah in the 84th minute in search of an equalizer that never came.

She remains Mallbackens IF’s leading scorer this season having scored six goals in the 15 games she has played.

Kivumbi joined Mallbackens at the start of the year after four successful years with Swedish top-flight league side Vaxjo DFF.

Violah Nambi Ssebunya, another Ugandan female-forward in Sweden, scored a first-half brace as Vaxjo DFF beat IFK Kalmar to progress to the round of 16 stage.

Both Kivumbi and Nambi are former students of St. Mary’s Kitende and featured for UCU Lady Cardinals before leaving Uganda for Sweden five years ago.

Kivumbi will be expected to return to action when Mallbackens IF visit Sandvikens in the Swedish Elitettan (,second-tier league) game on Saturday 10th October.
