Struggle for safety as Bright stars host Soana

Eleven placed Bright Stars hosts ten placed Soana at Champions Stadium Mwererwe in a bid to keep a distance away from the drop and whoever takes the day will increase the chances for survival.

Both teams come in this encounter wounded Bright Stars lost to SC Vipers away at St Marys Stadium having taken the lead in the first half through goals from John Opejo Kokas and Skipper Nelson Ssenkatuka the hosts through substitutes Steven Mukwala and Tom Masiko’s late strike in the dying minutes gave Vipers victory adding on Brian Nkubi’s early goal in the 12th minute.

Soana lost SC Villa home at Kavumba Recreational Grounds 2-0 goals scored by Martin Kiiza and Allan Kyambadde and the memorable moment was Allan Kayiwa who missed failed to convert a penalty.

Both sides have met on nine occasions Soana has once Bright Stars won thrice and drawn on five occasions.

The last meeting in the first round was on matchday two of the 2017-2018 season and ended in a 1-1 stalemate Nelson Senkatuka scored for Bright Stars as Osama Farouk scored for the Kavumba based side.

Bright Stars has a good performance home on the 11 games so far played they have drawn five times, lost once and won five times.

Soana has been a bad traveller having won twice, drew thrice and lost on seven fixtures occasions on the twelve games so far play away from home.

Soana FC will miss out
services of Willy Kavuma and Farouk Osama having sustained injuries as they were representing their provinces in the Drum tournament.

Nelson Ssenkatuka will be the man to watch in search for a positive result who is currently the league top scorer with 10 goals, Benson Wejima and John Opejo Kokas will be the men to watch.

Allan Kayiwa, Ibrahim Kiiza,Baker Buyala and Steven Ategeka will lead Soana in search for a positive result away from home.

Coach David Mutono says they are to build on the performance of their players in the drum to hunt for a positive result,

” It is going to be a battle between the two sides. I know we are above them with a point and they need the points badly we are to build on the good performance showed by our players in the drum competition. Allan Kayiwa scored for Buganda Province assisted by Emma Kalyowa that is good for us.”

Bright Stars who lies 11th on 26 points will move to 9th.
