Striker Tuyisenge to lead Rwanda’s CHAN expedition

SINAN RAJUB SENOGA

Rwanda have confirmed their 25-man squad for the forthcoming CHAN final tournament to be held in Cameroon.

The 25 will be led by striker Jacques Tuyisenge who is now turning out for Rwanda Premier League champions APR FC.

Just like Tuyisenge, center back Emery Bayisenge also returned to the Rwandan local league and featured for AS Kigali against KCCA at St. Mary’s Kitende.

The duo were instrumental for Rwanda in the 2016 edition as the Amavubi Stars reached the quarter finals under the stewardship of Johnathan McKinstry.

The team coached by Vincent Mashami will also look up to players like Dominique Savio Nshuti, Rayon Sports’ Ernest Sugira and Muhadjiri Hakizimana who scored the all important penalty against KCCA among others.

Rwanda are grouped in Group C alongside Uganda Cranes, holders Morocco and debutants Togo.

They will open the campaign with a game against Uganda on January 18th followed by another one against Morocco on 22nd.

They will conclude the group stage phase against Togo on 26th January.

Rwanda had a preparational match against Congo Brazzaville which ended in a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Martin Fabrice Twizeyimana and Mico Justin.
