Vipers SC will look to build on their slender lead in the first leg as they lock horns with Mbarara City in the return leg of the semifinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup on Tuesday at the St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

The Venoms beat the Ankole Lions 2-1 at Kakyeka Stadium in the first leg last week, thanks to Paul Mucureezi and Milton Karisa strikes.

Seiri Arigumaho scored Mbarara City’s only goal of the contest.

Vipers with a slim lead, the winners of last edition’s competition will look trod on a similar path as they eye a consecutive Stanbic Uganda Cup final under the stewardship of Brazilian tactician Robertinho Oliviera.

“We have been a consistent team throughout the season and as well we hold the advantage after winning the game last week. We won this trophy last season and that motivates us more to do whatever we can to defend it.” Said Oliviera

He added,

Mbarara City is a strong team and they usually play whenever they are facing Vipers but we want to win the trophy again.” Stated Oliviera

Mbarara City on the other hand are eyeing their first ever competition final.

The Ankole Lions head coach Sadiq Sempigi remains hopeful that his side can cause an upset against Vipers

“From the way we played in the first leg, I believe we were the better side even though we lost the game. Our display on the pitch was impressive and it is the same spirit that we have carried with us ahead of tomorrow’s game.

“Everyone is determined and we all believe that it is still very much possible to win this game and make it to the final.” Said Sempigi.

The aggregate winner in the two legged semifinal will face either BUL FC or Booma FC in the final scheduled for June 11th/12th, 2022 at a venue yet to be revealed.
