With all the anticipation and hype surrounded around the match prior to kick off, the two rivals played to a disappointing goalless draw dominated by stop overs and delays.

The visitors who came into the game at the back of being crowned league champions tried to play a more progressive game compared to their hosts.

As the game approached the 40th minute, play was interrupted by rowdy Villa fans who threw stones at the visiting fans, who hesitated not and returned the favour with the same service.

Security tried to put the situation under control, an the match resumed after a forced break of over 5 minutes

The half time whistle went with the game still tight at 0-0 but as the teams went to the resting rooms, Vipers head coach Miguel Da Costa was hit with an object and he was rushed to hospital.

When referee William Oloya recalled the players to go for the second period, Vipers players refused to go back citing insecurity.

Officials made attempts to convince them back, but they objected until phone calls were made from high ranking officials of the club and play resumed after a break of more than 25 minutes

Again it’s the visitors that dominated play but still very limited chances were created and the game ended 0-0

The return leg will be played on the 5th of June at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
