Mutebi hopes to build on his team’s continental victory to eject Soana

KCCA FC will resume domestic play with a visit to Kavumba to face the home side in the Stanbic Uganda cup round of 16 tomorrow wednesday 21st, March,2018.

The ‘Kasasiro boys’ come into this game fresh from ejecting Ethiopian giants St George FC from the CAF Champions League last Saturday at Lugogo courtesy of a Muhammad Shaban second half header. To Mike Mutebi the KCCA FC head coach this is a turning point for the club and it gives them confidence to keep winning.

Speaking to the media at Lugogo in the pre-match conference, he said ;

“Our qualification to the group stages gives enough confidence to the players and we shall use that confidence in the next matches beginning with the one on Wednesday against Soana.”

The last 10 meetings between these sides have seen Soana FC win twice, KCCA FC win six and the other two encounters played to stalements.

These two sides have so far played twice against one another in the Azam Uganda Premier League with the Lugogo based side emerging victors on both occasions.The first game in which Soana hosted KCCA at Kavumba saw the visitors thump their hosts a humiliating 4:0 with Muhammad Shaban scoring a hatrick on his debut.

KCCA FC is boosted by the return of utility player Paul Musamali from injury while Jackson Nunda remains doubtful.

However, they may be without striker Derrick Nsibambi and defender Timothy Awany who are in camp with the national team ahead of the Cranes international friendly games on 24th and 27th this month.

The Kavumba based side will be without captain Timothy Musinguzi, striker Emmanuel Kalyowa, midfielder Steven Bengo while Simon Okwi also remains doubtful for the game.

In the round of 64, Soana wedged Ntoda FC 3-0 before eliminating WestNile side Onduparaka FC 4-3 on penalties in the round of 32 while KCCA had a 4-0 win to cruise past Mbarara FC in the round of 64 before ejecting Simba 2-1 at Kabanyolo grounds in Gayaza.

The winner of this encounter will proceed to the quarter finals of the tournament which is the round of 8.
