Ssingo FC have sent a warning to the teams intending to dethrone them after beating the Islanders of Ssese in the opening match of the 2019 edition of Airtel Masaza cup.
On a rainy soaked pitch, the home team were handed an early lead when Ssempala Ronald headed in from George Kiryowa’s inch perfect free kick delivery in the 3rd minute.
While Ssese were still struggling to find their footing, Yusuf Bwambale fumbled with Sula Mpanga’s low shot that beat him to extend Ssingo’s lead in the 20th minute.
The half time whistle went with Ssingo in a comfortable lead.
Ssese returned a different team in the second period but all their possession counted for nothing after failing to beat Emmanuel Were.
Gagganga Sula sealed the victory with a poacher’s finish when he calmly collected Mukasa Amuli’s cross to expertly glide the ball into the net with 15 minutes left on the clock.
Ssingo now comfortably sits on the summit of Masengere group. Buvuma, Bugerere and Gomba complete the five team group.
Other group matches will be played next Sunday on 9th June 2019.
