Second half substitute Paul Ssekulima scored the all important goal that saw Busoga United edge Maroons FC 1-0 at Luzira prisons grounds.

The game was destined for a barren stalemate but with three minutes to normal time, Ssekulima scored in an empty net after goalkeeper Emmanuel Akol was beaten by Isma Mugulusi away from his goal mouth.

Earlier on in the game, David Bagoole had a chance to score but his effort was parried away for a corner by Akol.

Busoga’s Ivan Wani also had a chance to score against his former side but failed to convert a goalkeeper to beat opportunity.

The result becomes Maroons’ third consecutive loss and exerts more pressure on Douglas Bamweyana whose job is on the line.

Bagoole was named man of the match at the end of the day.

With seven games to end the season, The Prison Warders are one place above the drop zone with 24 points from 23 games.

Busoga United maintain their fifth position with 36 points collected.

Maroons FC will visit Vipers in their next game on Wednesday 26th while Busoga United host Wakiso Giants on Tuesday.
