Meddie Kagere was on target twice as Kenyan giants Gor Mahia defeated Shafik Batambuze’s Singida United 2-0 in the semi finals of the Sportspesa Super cup.

Kagere opened up the scoring in the rain laden match at the Afraha stadium in Nakuru in the 35th minute with a brilliant header off a corner kick from Francis Kahata.

The second half saw Singida United search for a leveller whereas Gor Mahia looked for the second to kill off the game and thanks to Kagere they got it.

Kagere got the ball from outside the box to launch a low drive past Peter Manyika Junior in the Singida United goal at the stroke of full time.

Ugandan left backs Godfrey Walusimbi “Jjaja Walu” and Shafik Batambuze played the full 90 minutes for either sides.

Earlier on, Tanzania’s Simba SC cruised past Paul Nkata’s Kakamega Homeboyz thanks to a 5-4 penalty shoot out victory. The full time had ended in a goalless draw.

Simba SC will now tussle it out with Gor Mahia in the final slated for Sunday 10th June where the ultimate winner gets a chance to play against English side Everton football club at the Goodison park.

Kakamega Homeboyz will also play against Singida United in the third place play off.

Meddie Kagere is the leading scorer of the tournament with 3 goals from 2 games.
