Sports personalities, media and fans under the Fairplay off Pitch organization will on Saturday, 22nd May donate blood at Katwe Market Playgrounds.
Uganda Olympic committee President and National Council of Sports Chairman Donald Rukare will be the Guest of Honor at the event.
According to the CEO of Fairplay off Pitch Meddie Kiwuwa says that they always carryout such activities with the help of active and former soccer players as well as fans
“We always carryout such activities to help the community.” Boxers and soccer players plus the fans under our organization have always been supportive and we are to continue with these activities in various parts of the country.” Stated Kiwuwa
Shafiq Kagimu the URA FC captain also says that this is one of the ways they can give back to the society
“We always want to reach out to the society through such activities. Health is key to everyone’s life so we can only give back to the community by offering such services for free.” Said Kagimu
The other activities will comprise of HIV testing and counseling, dancing and eating competitions among others.
Kampala Donors club, Kitebi health centre, Kirudu and Mulago are the hospitals behind the event.
Former Cranes midfielder Hassan Wasswa, Karim Ndugwa, Eddy Kapampa, Vanessa Kalungi (She Corporates captain, Bombers skipper Shadir Musa, Tendo Musoke (Radio personality) are some of the member expected to be part of the day’s activities which will begin from 9am to 5Pm.
Professional footballers such as Patrick Henry Kaddu and Joseph Mpande will not be available but have supported the event in several ways.
For starters, Fairplay off Pitch is a non profit organization that promotes athlete value, healthier lives and reaching out to vulnerable community.
