Somalia name Dutchman Hendrik as new head coach

Hendrik replaces Moroccan Abdillatif Salef who was by the Somalia Football Federation from the role last year.

Somalia Football Federation have appointed Dutch tactician Hendrik Pieter de Jongh as new head coach.

Hendrik replaces Belgo-Moroccan tactician Abdillatif Salef who was axed as coach of the Ocean Stars by the country’s football governing body in 2021.

The Dutchman was unveiled to the media by the Somalia Football Federation Technical Director Awil Hassan and the Federation Secretary General Yusuf Muhidin.

Hendrik is new Somalian national team head coach

Hendrik will work with the Somalia Football Federation for a period of one year with an option of a renewal.

The 51 year old Dutchman has managed at several professional football clubs around the world including Budapest Honvéd, Kenyan Premier League side AFC Leopards and South Africa’s FC Cape Town.

He is also served at Mongolia side Ulaanbaatar City and Zimbabwe sides Highlanders, FC Platinum and is also a former Eswatini National Football team head coach.
