Soltilo Bright Stars take shinning form to Onduparaka

Soltilo Bright Stars will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games when they take on Onduparaka at the Greenlight Stadium in Arua.

The Bright Stars are enjoying their best season since they gained promotion in 2013 whereas their opponents and hosts Onduparaka are enduring their worst campaign since they were elevated to the top tier in 2016.

Bright Stars are fifth with 40 points garnered from 24 games while Onduparaka are battling for safety with 27 points accumulated so far in 12th place.

Baker Mboowa’s men have won seven of their last nine league games, drawing the other two 0-0 against URA and SC Villa.

Bright Stars beat BUL 1-0 away in Bugembe courtesy of Derrick Ngoobi’s second minute goal in their most recent fixture.

Onduparaka lost 2-1 to Mbarara City in their previous game but got a morale boosting 1-0 win over SC Villa in their last home game, their only win in seven league games.

The Caterpillars will be aiming for a double over Bright Stars having won the first round encounter 1-0 at Kavumba through Emmanuel Oketch’s first half goal.

The past eight meetings between both sides have seen the Arua based outfit win twice, Bright Stars winning thrice while the other three games have resulted into draws.

Onduparaka have lost five games at home, their worst home record in a season since the club was founded. They have now lost a total of 11 league games at home since their promotion in 2016.

Onduparaka will continue to miss left back Rashid Okocha and striker Amis Muwonge. Jamal Malish has malaria whereas Najib Tusaba is ruled out due to the injury he picked from the last game.

Bright Stars will miss Marvin Joseph and Methodius Jjungu who have flue, Ronald Nkonge (fever) and long term absentees Ronald Ssempala, Sam Ssekitto, Benson Wegima and Amis Gabite due to injury.

Winger Joseph Akandwanaho is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards while right back Andrew Kaggwa starts his two match suspension after seeing red against BUL last week.

Strikers Samuel Ssekamatte Kayongo and Kabon Living will be expected to inspire their respective sides in this encounter.

Ssekamatte has scored 12 goals this term, three behind leading scorer Yunus Sentamu while Kabon Living scored his 10th goal of the campaign in their defeat to Mbarara City.
