Bright Stars will be starting a new life following the departure of Baker Mboowa who was relieved of his duties as the club head coach following a five match winless streak.

Bright Stars are one of the two clubs that are yet to register victory, the other being bottom placed Police.

Simon Peter Mugerwa has been elevated to the club’s head coach role on an interim basis and will be taking charge of his first game.

Their opponents and hosts Busoga United are 8th on the table with six points attained from victories against Gaddafi FC and Tooro United.

Busoga United’s most recent game saw them beat Tooro United 3-1 at Buhinga thanks a brace from Anwar Ntege and a goal by Shaka Ssozi.

Bright Stars, who are placed second from bottom on the table, drew 1-1 with KCCA at Kavumba in the last league game to register their first point of the season.

Team News

Busoga United have received a timely return of midfielder Paul Ssekulima who has been sidelined by injury since the start of the season.

Tibita Laban is also available following a knock in the most recent game against Tooro United while Elvis Kibale is a doubt and will undergo a late fitness test.

Bright Stars have no injury concerns with all players available for selection.

Japanese midfielder Kazuto Kushida could play his first game for the club having failed to come on in the final minute during the draw against KCCA.

Head To Head

The teams will be facing off for the 10th time in the league since the 2016-17 season.

Bright Stars have won four of the previous meetings while Busoga United have managed to win on two occasions.

The other three games have been draws.

Their most recent meeting ended 1-1 last season at Njeru with Ssekulima scoring for the home side in the 4th minute of the game while Nvule Jamir Kisitu equalized for Bright Stars a minute later.
