Bright Stars are in advanced stages to reappoint Paul Kiwanuka as their new head coach, Swift Sports understands.

Kiwanuka is currently unemployed after he was relieved of his duties at Vipers following the appointment of Brazilian tactician of Roberto Oliveira at the start of this season.

In case the deal materializes, Kiwanuka will return to the side he managed in the 2019/20 season and also served as assistant to Fred Kajoba for close to four years before reuniting with him at Vipers.

The former Vipers assistant coach is fondly remembered for helping Bright Stars overcome relegation during the turbulent 2019/20 campaign.

Earlier this week, Bright Stars sacked their head coach Baker Mbowa following a poor start to the 2021/22 season.

Mbowa had only registered a single point in their opening five games after losing to Mbarara City, newcomers Gaddafi FC, Onduparaka FC and SC Villa with their only picking a point off KCCA FC.
