Soltilo Bright Stars officially unveil former KCCA goalkeeper


Goalkeeper Matovu Hassan has officially been unveiled by Soltilo Bright Stars FC on a three year contract.

Matovu left KCCA last week on Friday before completing his move to Bright Stars this week.

He is a graduate of KCCA FC soccer academy having featured for the club in the FUFA Juniors League.

Matovu was promoted to the senior team in 2019 but couldn’t break into the starting team.

He spent two seasons on loan at Proline between 2018-20 and won the 2019 Stanbic Uganda Cup after saving a decisive penalty in a shoot out against Bright Stars at Masaka.

He helped Proline gain topflight promotion and featured in six preliminary games for Proline FC in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Last season, Matovu played one game for KCCA which was a 6-2 win over Kitara FC in Masindi.

His last assignment was during the CECAFA Kagame Cup last month as KCCA lost 2-0 to Azam FC in the Group B opening game.

Swift Sports understands that the club has also agreed terms with Kyetume FC goalkeeper Were Derrick in a bid to fill the void left by Godwin Buule Kiwanuka and Wegima Benson.

Bright Stars have so unveiled midfielder Meddie Kyeyune who returned to the club after one season, Japanese midfielder Kazuto Kushida and former Kigezi HomeBoyz midfielder Fiat Cleophas.

They have also promoted youngster Shamuran Kamya (goalkeeper) and Issa Bugembe.

Mathias Okwalinga is another player who has been signed by Bright Stars, Swift Sports has learnt.
