Soltilo Bright Stars required a late penalty to win all three points against Wakiso Giants in a game played at Kavumba.
A late penalty by substitute Ibrahim Kasinde made the difference between the two sides which had played three draws in all their previous head to head meetings.
The game saw female referee Shamirah Nabadda award three penalties, one to the winning team and two to Wakiso Giants.
From the onset, the tie promised nothing but goals when Ivan Bogere capitalized on a blunder by goalkeeper Benson Wegima to give Wakiso Giants the lead as early as the third minute.
Sam Ssekamatte Kayongo equalized for the Bright Stars with his seventh goal of the season from a free kick in the 15th minute.
Joseph Janjali made it 2-1 three minutes past the hour mark and ensured a halftime lead for the home side.
Moments into the second half, Wakiso Giants were awarded a penalty citing a handball in the box. Tom Masiko stepped up to take it but his effort was saved by goalkeeper Simon Tamale who had earlier on replaced an injured Wegima.
With the clock ticking, Wakiso Giants were awarded another penalty after another adjudged handball in the box and this time round it was Joshua Lubwama Letti to convert. Lubwama, who had replaced Masiko, perfectly made it 2-2 in the 75th minute.
Deep into the eight added minutes, Emmanuel Loki was brought down in the box by Hassan Wasswa Dazo and Kasinde converted from the resultant penalty to win it for Bright Stars.
The result propelled Baker Mbowa’s men to 23 points accumulated from 17 games while Wakiso Giants remained 13th, fourth from the bottom with 16 points.
Next on card for Bright Stars will be a visit to MYDA on Saturday 17th while Wakiso Giants host Onduparaka on the same day.
