UPL side Soltilo Bright Stars have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Emmanuel Were Derrick.
As earlier reported by Swift Sports, Were joined Bright Stars from Kyetume FC who were relegated from the UPL last season.

He is expected to provide healthy competition in the Bright Stars goalkeeping department that has Simon Tamale, newly acquired Hassan Matovu from KCCA and U-17 team graduate Shamulan Kamya.
The budding shot stopper comes at a time the team let go of Godwin Buule Kiwanuka and Wegima Benson who were the club’s first and second choice goalkeepers respectively last season.
Were is a three time Masaza Cup winner with Ssingo (2015 and 2018) and Buddu in 2016.
He was the captain of Uganda Christian University as they won the Pepsi University Football League and Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) games at the University of Kisubi in 2019.
He was the Most Valuable player (MVP) and best goalkeeper in the 2019 Pepsi University Football League.
Soltilo Bright Stars have already signed former Hope Doves midfielder Mathias Okwalinga, Japanese midfielder Kazuto Kushida, Meddie Kyeyune who returned to the club after one season as well as former Kigezi HomeBoyz midfielder Fiat Cleophas.
They have also promoted youngster Issa Bugembe and goalkeeper Kamya from the club’s U-17 team.
