Soltilo Bright Stars confirm promotion of youthful goalkeeper

SINAN RAJUB SENOGA

Soltilo Bright Stars have announced the promotion of youthful goalkeeper Shamuran Kamya from the reserve team to the senior team.

Kamya was part of the club’s reserve team but was called into action as the club’s fourth choice goalkeeper in the closing stages of last season.

He was a back up for Simon Tamale who was the only senior team goalkeeper available in the closing half of the season when injuries sidelined Benson Wegima and first choice goalkeeper Godwin Buule Kiwanuka.

The club’s Technical Director Ian Mutenda says the technical team was impressed by Kamya’s abilities despite his young age.

” We worked closely with Shamuran last season and were extremely impressed with his natural ability as a goalkeeper hence his early intergration into the first team. We know that this is the beginning of great things for both Shamuran and this club”

Mutenda said.

The budding shot stopper has previously represented Uganda at the U-17 level while playing for Soltilo Bright Stars Junior team.

Last year, Kamya played for Mawokota in the Airtel Masaza Cup which was played at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

Bright Stars have so far signed three new players including Japanese midfielder Kazuto Kushida.

Former Kigezi HomeBoyz midfielder Fiat Cleophas and Meddie Kyeyune are the other signings.
