Soltilo Bright Stars aim for maiden league double over Mbarara City

Soltilo Bright Stars will temporarily got level on points with KCCA and Police if they manage to win against Mbarara City at Kavumba.

Bright Stars are sixth with 34 points while their opponents Mbarara City are racing for safety in the 11th place with 26 points accumulated in 22 games played.

The two sides will be hoping to return to winning ways after drawing their most recent fixtures. Bright Stars drew goalless at Villa while Mbarara City played out a one-all draw with BUL in Bugembe.

Bright Stars will be aiming for their first ever league double over the Ankole Lions having won the reverse fixture 1-0 thanks to Joseph Akandwanaho’s late goal in Kakyeka.

They have previously met on seven occasions with either side winning twice while the other three meetings have ended in draws.

Fresh from being crowned the Pilsner best player of the month of April, Striker Samuel Ssekamatte will be hoping to increase on his goal tally having scored 10 so far, three behind the leading scorer Yunus Sentamu.

Mbarara City will look up to their strikers Henry Kitegenyi, Jude Semugabi and Bashir Mutanda for inspiration in this encounter.

The Livingstone Mbabazi coached side will be without Makweth Wol, Soulaymane Bamba and John Adriko. Goalkeeper Martin Elungat and left back Jasper Aheebwa are doubtful.

Bright Stars have a long list of absentees who include; Marvin Joseph, Simon Ssemayange, Ronald Nkonge, Nvule Jamir Kisitu, Ronald Ssempala, Sam Ssekitto and the first two choice goalkeepers Edwin Buule Kiwanuka and Benson Wegima.

Youngster Derrick Kiggundu is also out of the contest due to accumulated yellow cards.
