Silverbacks to open up against Nigeria in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 qualifiers.

The National Basketball team are set to have their first world Cup qualifying game against Nigeria on 23rd of February in Bamako.

The Silverbacks who had series of friendly matches before leaving for the qualifiers as build up games playing against selected local basketball players will play 3 games in 3days and all games will be hosted in Mali.

A team of 12 players in, Jimmy Enabu, Joshua Robinson, Odoch Opong, Syrus Kiviiri, Mark Opio, Samuel Mukooza, Stephen Omony, IkongJoseph, James Okello, Mugerwa, Stanley Ocitti, Brandon Sebirumbi was selected by Caoches, Mandy Juruni and Nicholas Natuhwereza and will represent Uganda whose fixtures will run from 23rd to 25th as follows,

1. Uganda Vs Nigeria Friday 23rd.
2. Uganda Vs Mali – Saturday 24th.
3. Uganda Vs Rwanda- Sunday 25th.

Uganda to qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 will first have to be among the top 3 teams in their group where 12 qualified teams will be grouped into 2 groups each group consisting of 6 teams.

6 teams placed in group E and 6 placed in F from which the top 2 teams and the best 3rd ranked team will earn their tickets to the FIBA Basket ball World Cup 2019.
