Sekajugo cancels out Shaban’s early strike to hand Wakiso Giants 3rd straight draw

Defending Champions Vipers SC and Wakiso Giants played out to a grim stalemate at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Saturday

Muhammad Shaban who was making his Vipers debut gave the visitors an early lead with a superb header, but it failed to knock the stuffing out of Douglas Bamweyana’s side, who launched a reply in the second half when Viane Ssekajugo levelled matters.

New Vipers SC signings Disan Galiwango, David Bagoole, Jamil Kaliisa, Ibrahim Oriti and Joseph Dhata were also handed their league debuts.

Shaban fired the visitors into an early lead with a perfect header off a Galiwango corner kick in the 7th minute.

Despite finishing the first half leading in possession, the hosts failed to create clear chances.

Early in the second period, winger Ibrahim Orit nearly doubled Vipers advantage but was denied by Wakiso custodian Derrick Emukule.

The home side levelled matters in the 66th minute through Ssekajugo who was returning from a long term injury.

By the end of proceedings, the two sides had to settle for a 1-1 draw and a third for Wakiso Giants this campaign.

Wakiso are currently 9th on the Uganda Premier League table with 3 points and will next travel to Onduparaka on Tuesday while Vipers will host Airtel Kitara on Wednesday.
