Sekajugo brace not enough for Wakiso to topple Police’s first leg heavy victory

Wakiso Giants have been ejected from the Uganda Cup despite staging spirited fight at the Philip Omondi stadium

The Purple Sharks came into the tie needing to score a minimum of 3 unanswered goals but they marginally fell short of achieving that feat by just a single goal.

Bamweyana’s men were presented with a golden opportunity to get off off the mark in the 8th minute but Joshua Lubwama failed to convert a penalty.

It was his first penalty miss of the season having scored them on 5 occasions.

Wakiso almost paid for Lubwama’s miss but Samson Kiirya came to their rescue, stopping Derrick Kakooza’s close range effort on 11 minutes.

Wakiso leading marksman Vian Sekajugo took matters in his own hands with a long range stunner that beat Tom Ikarah to get the visitors off the mark.

Police held on and went into the half time break with their lead safe.

Sekajugo returned again to cut the aggregate deficit to a single goal in the 65th minute. He won possession from goalkeeper Thomas Ikara and scored into an empty net.

The visitors pushed on for a third goal that would have seen them overturn the tie on its head but it wasn’t going to come.

Sekajugo nearly made it 3-0 two minutes to normal time but his effort hit the cross bar.

Police’s first leg 3 goals scored at Kabaka Kyabaggu proved enough leverage for them to join BUL and Vipers in the semi finals.
