SC Villa upgrade squad with 13 new signings

Uganda’s record champions have unveiled 13 new players ahead of the second round of StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the club’s base Villa Park in Nsambya.

On the same function, marauding wing back Ashraf Mandela has been named the club’s new captain, taking over from Ambrose Kirya.

In the process, seven players have been handed their release letters to somewhere else after being deemed surplus to requirements.

Snow paced striker Abdul Rahman Ajab, Manco Kawesa, Amir Kakomo, Yusuf Mukisa, Brian Bwete, Edgar Luzige and Robert Kitabalwa are among the unlucky lot to have faced the chop.

Club chairman Engineer William Nkemba, Communications manager Joseph Kizito, Technical director Moses Matovu, CEO James Serebe, and Secretary Nobert Kazibwe graced the function.

Kobs goalkeeper Saidi Keni who has spent most of his time at Proline FC is one of the key faces that have excited the Jogoo faithfuls and he will wear shirt number 1.

Left back John Adriko makes a U-turn after spending the first half of the season at Big league side Kitara FC. He has been assigned shirt number 21.

2018-2019 University league MVP Rahman Ashaba has joined from Kyambogo University and he will put on 13.

Charles Lwanga graduates from Villa Junior team to SC Villa senior team shirt 23. The youngster has already featured for Villa this season and made a starring debut against Express FC.

South Sudanese international Peter Dusman joins the 16 league champions and his shirt number will be 17. He is not new to the Uganda premier league having featured for Onduparaka before.

Former UPDF hartman Sulaiman Majanjaro is another experienced figure captured and he will don his much revered shirt number 8.

Former Tooro United midfielder Emmanuel Kalyowa will also don 5 the famous blue and white kit for the second time having developed through the youth ranks of SC Villa.

Defender James Mukasa has joined from FUFA Big League side Entebbe FC jersey 2.

Yakubu Rama another defender has been on the books of Zambia giants Lusaka Dynamos jersey, he has been assigned shirt number 4.

Hamdan Nsubuga and Benson Muhindo from Green Valley will wear jersey 16 and 6 respectively.

National beach soccer forward Ronald Magwali has been assigned shirt 9, he has been on the books of Regional side Kabalagala Rangers.

Brian Amwine has been representing Makerere University in the University football league, and he has been attached jersey number 24.
