SC Villa glides past Masavu to extend lead at the top

Martin Kizza’s well taken penalty inspired Sc Villa to a narrow 1-0 win over Masavu FC at Masaka.

Only 7 minutes into play, the hosts where on with the first live goal opportunity of the game when Abel Eturude was brought down at the egde of the 18 yards box but Lwesibawa’s well curved Free-kick was denied by Mansoor Mutumba in goal for the visitors.

Later in the 21st minute, Masavu forward and skipper Abraham Nduggwa was setup by fellow forward Arthur Ssemazzi but he shot over the cross bar.

Later, Allan Kyambadde’s shot hit the goal post to keep the Entebbe based side into the game with only 36 minutes played.

Martin Kizza scored from the spot with only 2 minutes to the halftime break after defender Philly Lutaya handled the ball in the goal area. Kizza sent his season tally to 7 goals.

The host’s goalkeeper Samson Kirya stood tall to deny James Kasibante an opportunity to level the game when he made a superb save to his long range shot in the 64th with defender Henry Katongole back available to collect the rebounded ball in time.

Deep into the second half with the clock ticking down, Masavu forward Arthur Ssemazzi’s header was saved by Kirya to keep the jogoos into the lead.

The win helps Villa hold on the the grip on the top of the log with 43 points after playing 21 games while Masavu stay bottom of the table with 19 points after playing the same number of games.

In their next game, Sc Villa will visit relegation threatened Proline FC at Lugogo on 30th, March,2018 while Masavu will face off with Onduparaka Fc at the Green light stadium in Arua on 31, March,2018. .
