- SC Villa Vs Kirinya Jinja SS FC
Date : Wednesday 2nd May 2018
Time : 4:00pm
Venue : Masaka Recreation Grounds
With their title chances fading away towards the climax of the season, SC Villa will look for no further slip ups when they host Kirinya Jinja SS at Masaka recreation grounds.
The Jogoos are currently second on the AUPL table with 50 points and 5 behind leaders Vipers, they will have to return to winning ways by beating Kirinya to keep their title hopes alive.
Kirinya on the other hand are 5th on the log with 38 points, they have less to play for this season having cemented their stay in the topflight division for next season. They will only want to end the season with a respectable finish.
SC Villa’s title challenge credentials were put to a huge test in their previous game against Mbarara City at Kakyeka Stadium when they threw away their 1-0 lead with only seconds away to full time. The game ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
Their opponents are on an agonizing aftermath of a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bright Stars courtesy of Nelson Ssenkatuka and Sulaiman Sebunza goals. Faizal Muwawu scored the only goal for the Jinja based side at Bugembe.
SC Villa : DLWWD
Kirinya : LDLWL
The first round meeting between both sides in December last year ended in a 1-1 stalemate at Bugembe stadium, with George Senkaba scoring for Villa before a Fred Amaku late equalizer.
The record champions have won 11, drawn once and only lost to Vipers in the 13 games they have hosted at Masaka recreation grounds this season.
Villa tactician Wasswa Bbosa will be serving his second game of the 4 match touchline ban. Assistant coach Paul Mukatabala will again be in the dugout.
The bad news from Villa camp is that first choice goalkeeper Samson Kirya is a major doubt for this contest through illness. The custodian has kept 14 clean sheets this season and if he doesn’t shake off early, he will hugely be missed by the home side.
Yubu Bogere, Bernard Muwanga and Martin Kizza are expected to guide the hosts to maximum points.
No injury worries for the visitors and will look at Faizal Muwawu, Musa Esenu and Fred Amaku for inspiration.
SC Villa can move to the second position should they register their 16th win of the season.
Any positive result for Kirinya will consolidate their stay in 5th place.
