Samatta scores on Premier League debut


AFC Bournemouth 2-1 Aston Villa

Tanzanian striker Mbwana Ally Samatta scored his first goal on his Premier League debut as his Aston Villa side lost to AFC Bournemouth 2-1 at the Vitality stadium on Saturday.

Samatta who recently transferred from Belgium’s KRC Genk, headed home Aston Villa’s lone goal of the game in the 70th minute.

His goal became Aston Villa’s first headed goal in the league this season after 25 games but turned out to be a consolation.

Bournemouth had scored two goals in the opening half through Phillip Billing and former Chelsea defender Nathan Ake.

Bournemouth were reduced to 10 men after Colombian midfielder Jefferson Lerma was sent off for a second bookable offense in the 51st minute.

Aston Villa are now 17th with 25 points garnered from 25 games played.

Samatta and teammates will face Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur at the Villa Park in their next game on 16th this month.
