Samatta scores in EFL final defeat to Man City

Mbwana Ally Samatta scored a the lone goal for Aston Villa in their 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.

Samatta headed home a cross from Anwar El Ghazi to cut Man City’s lead in the 41st minute.

Man City took the lead through Sergio Aguero in the 11th minute and Rodri’s header at the half hour mark.

The Tanzanian striker was withdrawn for Keinan Davies in the final 10 minutes of the game as Aston Villa sought for a leveller that never came.

Samatta has now scored two goals for Aston Villa since making his January transfer window move from KRC Genk of Belgium.

His first came on his Premier League debut against AFC Bournemouth on 1st February.

In the league, Aston Villa are second from bottom of the table with 25 points from 27 games.
