Struggling Mbarara City fought from a goal down to hold title chasing KCCA in a 1-1 draw at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo yesterday.
To Sam Kawalya the current head coach of the Ankole Lions this was a very big milestone in their bid to avoid relegation.
Speaking to the media at Lugogo in the post match conference, he said this was a fair result to his side.
“We played a very big team and getting a draw away from home especially in this second round is not easy so I think it is a very fair result for us.”
He also stressed out that they will build on that to perform even better in the remaining few fixtures in order to avoid relegation. He said;
“We need to build on this result and do better in the remaining games to avoid relegation”.
With only 8 games left to play, Mbarara City FC have gathered 23 points and sit 11th on the table of 16 teams whose bottom 3 teams by the end of the season shall be relegated to the FUFA Big League.
The next fixture will see the Ankole Lions face off with troubled Express FC at Wankulukuku on Wednesday 11th, April 2018.
