Salah inspires Egypt past Morocco to storm AFCON semi finals

This was a repeat of the 2017 AFCON quarterfinal that saw Egypt beat Morocco 1-0 courtesy of Kahraba's 88th minute in Libreville, Gabon.

Egypt came from a goal down to beat Morocco 2-1 after extra time and subsequently qualified to the semi final of the ongoing AFCON.

Morocco took an early lead in the 6th minute through Sofiane Boufal who scored a penalty after Achraf Hakimi was brought down in the box by Ayman Ashraf.

Egypt rallied through their inspirational skipper Mohamed Salah who equalized with a tap in from close range after goalkeeper Yassine Bono spilled the ball from a corner kick in the 53rd minute.

The game was tied at full-time and headed to the extra time.

Egypt took the lead through Aston Villa’s Trezeguet who tapped in a well crafted Salah assist in the 100th minute.

The Pharaohs held on until the final whistle and set up a semi final date with the hosts Cameroon on Thursday.
