Rwothomio on the brace as tax collectors outwit Cops

Mid-season transfer signing Cromwell Abang Rwothomio scored a goal in each half as URA edged Police FC 2-0 at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.

The former Paidha Black Angels’ skipper was on target in the 37th minute after Police’s Davis Mutebi failed to tame his effort.

Moments into the second half, Juma Balinya had a chance to level matters with his 20th goal of the campaign but was denied by the woodwork before James Alitho recovered to save the rebound from Basani Safi.

Rwothomio completed his brace at the hour mark and ultimately won it for the tax collectors.

URA’s head coach Sam Ssimbwa was sent off from the touchline after protesting against the referee’s decision in the closing stages of the game.

URA dislodge Tooro United to reclaim their third place status on the Premier League table with 50 points accumulated from 29 games.

Bright Stars found their lone consolation through Express defender Hamis Batega who converted in his own net deep in the second half.

Brian Nkuubi scored the all important goal after tapping home from one of Ibrahim Tembo’s long throw ins in the 18th minute.

The game between Ndejje University and Onduparaka at the Arena of visions was rescheduled to Thursday at 2:00pm following a heavy down pour 20 minutes after kick off.

The league is set to climax on Saturday 4th May with eight fixtures.
