Rwenzori Group Dominates Big League Play Offs

The big league play offs at Wankulukuku was dominated by teams from Rwenzori group as Mbarara city the 2nd runners up beat Elgon group 1st runners up Ndejje University 5-3 in penalties after the game ended 1-1 all in the open play. Ndejje University led the game 1-0 by half time a goal scored by Bernard Katetemera before Brain Ahebwa squared the scores in 92nd minute that forced the game into shoot outs and man of the match Mbarara city’s goal keeper Mohammed Ssekeba proved his national team call up was not a mistake

In another semi final Rwenzori group 1st runners up Synergy from Masaka beat Kira united the 2nd runners up from Elgon group 3-1 Okwalinga Solomon’s brace and a goal from Kasozi Nicholas put synegy in the lead after the first half ended 0-0 all and Emmanuel Obitre Pulled a consolation goal for Kira United

The play offs finals at Phillip Omondi Stadium on Sunday the 7th May 2017 at 2:00 PM will be a Rwenzori group affair a repeat of the last game of the regular season where Synergy were 2-0 winners over Mbarara City though it was a 1-0 win for Mbarara city at Kakyeka in the first leg.

Later on at 4:00PM it will be the big league finals between Rwenzori group leaders Masavu against Elgon group leaders Maroons to determine the 2016/2017 FUFA big league champions though all the teams have already qualified for 2017/2018 Azam Premier League and the Winner between Mbarara City and Synergy will join Masavu and Maroons to make up a total of 3 teams to be promoted to the top flight.
