Following Egypt’s withdrawal from taking part in the forthcoming Championships of African nations to be hosted by Morocco, CAF organised a play off between Ethiopia and Rwanda to replace the Pharaohs.
Egypt had been reinstated following Kenya’s withdrawal as hosts and the rights were shifted to Morocco who had earlier eliminated Egypt.
The Amavubi qualified after edging Ethiopia 3-2 on aggregate having won the first leg 3-2 and drew 0-0 in the return keg played in Kigali.
The confirmed nations are Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Libya, Mauritania, Namibia, Nigeria, Sudan, Uganda and Zambia.
The finals will be played from January 12th to February 4th with all the 16 nations all confirmed.
