Rugumayo wins 2021 Captain’s Bell Golf tournament

Ronald Rugumayo scooped the 2021 Captain’s Bell golf tournament which was sponsored by Absa Bank Uganda.

The professional golfer garnered a total of 139 strokes over the two rounds played in two days at the Uganda Golf club in Kampala on Thursday and Friday.

On the opening round, Rugumayo had an amazing 6-under par 66 gross.

Second placed Dennis Anguyo tallied a total of 144 strokes, five below the winner Rugumayo.

The duo of Silver Opio and Richard Baguma shared third third place with 146 strokes.

Abraham Ainemani had a combined total of 147 strokes that saw him finish fifth.

Herman Deco Mutebi (148), Philip Kasozi (149), Fred Wanzala(150), Herman Mutawe (152), Lawrence Muhenda (152) and Becca Mwanja (153) completed the top ten positions.

The winner Rugumayo took the biggest share of Shs.8M that was divided amongst the 12 best performers.

Meanwhile, Aggrey Mutaka and Lin Li Xia were crowned as the overall male and female respective best golfers at the 2021 Captain’s Bell golf tournament played at the Uganda Golf Club, Kitante in Kampala on Saturday, 22nd May.

Mutaka and Lin beat a strong field of at least 160 golfers to smile home with the much desired victory, taking home a plaque and mini fridge apiece.

Absa injected Shs.30M towards this year’s Captain’s Bell Golf tournament.

The next professional event will be the West Nile open at Arua Golf Club in June 2021.
