Mbarara City FC and Vipers SC played out to a goalless draw at Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara. The stalemate put Vipers title defence hang in a balance.
Livingston Mbabazi named custodian Muhammad Ssekeba in goal replacing Ali Kimera who was suspended by the club following a calamitous night against SC Villa last week.
Bobosi Byaruhanga who was making his senior debut for Vipers had a brilliant chance to fire his sided into an early lead but was denied by Ssekeba.
Ssekeba also denied Tom Masiko and Brian Nkuubi to keep the score at bay.
In the second period, Hamis Kiiza could have given the Kitende outfit the deserved lead but his effort kissed the post. The home side’s best chance fell to Ivan Eyam who failed to fire past Vipers custodian Derrick Ochan.
Vipers’ tactician Micheal Nam Ouma introduced on Dan Sserunkuma for Rahmat Ssenfuka but the former had minimal impact.
Despite the goalless draw, Vipers stays in second place with 50 points and are now six points adrift of leaders KCCA FC.
Mbarara City are fourth placed with 42 points and only a point separates them with third placed URA FC who suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Bright Stars.
Vipers SC next host URA FC on 19th April at St.Mary’s Stadium, Kitende while Mbarara City will visit Tooro United on 20th April.
