Kiboga Young and Kitara Football Club will face off in the FUFA Big League promotion playoff final on Tuesday 21st-October at noon at FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.
Kitara FC edged Kataka FC 7-6 in a tense penalty shoot-out after a full-time barren draw.
Kiboga Young rallied from behind to edge Ndejje University 3-1 thanks to goals from captain Jamaldine Buchochera, Brian Olega and Sula Wambedde.
Richard Makumbi the man at the helms of Kiboga Young holds the record for guiding the most number of teams to the top-flight league with his most recent being Mbarara City in 2017.
Makumbi believes God has always been on his side,
“My opponents have a negative attitude towards me surprisingly what they think is not what I am. My God is always with me and usually positively answers my prayers.”
His equal number Mark Twinamasiko guided The Saints to promotion as well as Kirinya Jinja. He also nearly did the same while at Dove FC Masindi last season at Lugogo.
Twinamasiko says determination will see his side through and he believes his side won’t repeat their mistakes in their previous game.
“We have corrected the mistakes made in the semi-final today since it was a day of corrections and we are hoping for a better game tomorrow.” He boldly affirms.
It will be the second time Kitara FC are playing in a promotional play off after losing the 2018 final to Paidha Black Angels 3-2 on penalties.
Makumbi’s charges will look up to their inspirational skipper Buchochera, Nasur Nandala who also serves as the club’s Chief Executive Officer and goalkeeper Steven Makumba.
Kitara will bank on forwards Brian Mayanja Mululi (who has eight goals), Jamil Kisitu Nvule (5 goals and four assists) and the experience of George Ssenkaba.
The winner will gain topflight promotion joining Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA FC) and UPDF FC who gained topflight promotion after topping Elgon and Rwenzori groups respectively.
