Vipers will officially begin their 2020 Stanbic Uganda Cup with a short trip to Wankulukuku on Wednesday 22nd to take on Kajjansi United in what has been dubbed as the Entebbe Road Derby.
Unlike their illustrious neighbours, Kajjansi United, a Buganda Regional League outfit, will for the first time feature in the tournament’s Round of 64 stage.
Vipers will be hoping to burry their disappointing 1-0 defeat to SC Villa in the league with a commanding victory against the third tier side.
This will be the first ever competitive match between both sides but have previously faced off on two occasions in friendly matches both of which have ended in Vipers’ favor (2-0 and 5-0).
The game comes a day after Vipers SC skipper Halid Lwaliwa and his Kajjansi United brother Solomon Tumusiime lost their mother.
Defender Bashir Asiku and Midfielder Siraje Sentamu are also ruled out the tie.
Besides Tumusiime, Kajjansi United will also miss Badru Kabanda who is nursing an injury.
Brian Nkuubi, Tito Okello and Abraham Ndugwa are expected back having been out for some time while Aziz Kayondo is doubtful and will require a late fitness test.
The other two games of the day will see Onduparaka FC visiting Bugamba FC and Busia Young host Busoga United.
• Kajjansi United Vs Vipers SC – Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.
• Busia Young Vs Busoga United – Madibira grounds.
• Bugamba FC Vs Onduparaka FC – Bugamba ground, Rwampara.
